USDC Treasury Mints 250 Million Tokens in Stablecoin Issuance

Image: TokenPost

USDC Treasury minted 250 million USD Coin (USDC), creating roughly $250 million in dollar-linked tokens without establishing how much, if any, entered circulation. The mint was valued at approximately $250.09 million. Circle manages USDC, a stablecoin designed to maintain a value of $1 per token. Minting records the creation of tokens at the Treasury; it does not show a subsequent transfer to an exchange or another holder. A mint alone also does not establish an increase in total USDC supply. Through Circle’s cross-chain transfer process , USDC burned on one network can be replaced by an equal amount minted on another. The Treasury mint’s effect on overall supply cannot be determined from its size alone. Enna Lee reports on investing and digital-asset markets for TokenPost.
