India’s wind additions could reach 14 gigawatts (GW) a year by 2030, Suzlon Energy Executive Vice Chairman Girish Tanti forecast Oct. 15, more than doubling the calendar 2025 pace. Tanti also expects India to add 8 GW of wind capacity in 2026. His 14 GW figure is an industry forecast for annual additions, not a government target or a projection of total installed capacity. India added 6.3 GW in calendar 2025. A separate tally for fiscal 2025–26 was 6.05 GW, a record for that fiscal year. The figures cover different reporting periods and are not conflicting counts of the same year. India had 59.20 GW of total installed wind capacity as of Sept. 30, 2026. Its 2030 wind target is 100 GW of installed capacity.
