Charles Schwab is opening direct Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) trading through Schwab Crypto to more than 40 million U.S. customers, bringing spot crypto purchases into eligible Schwab accounts. The service is unavailable to residents of New York and Louisiana. Schwab charges a 0.75% fee on each transaction, and customers can trade either asset through the offering. Schwab announced the crypto service in April and has introduced it in stages. The company manages about $13 trillion in assets, and the rollout brings direct crypto trading to its large U.S. brokerage customer base, subject to the state exclusions. The offering adds spot trading in Bitcoin and Ether to Schwab accounts, with the transaction fee and availability limits applying to the current service. John Kim reports on the digital-asset business for TokenPost.
