On Ethereum , the account nonce is a crucial mechanism for tracking the order of transactions sent from an externally owned account. This incrementing number serves as a sequence counter for each transaction, rather than acting as a password or a fee system. For contract accounts, the nonce reflects the number of contracts that the account has deployed. An externally owned account’s nonce functions as a sequential transaction counter.
