The United States became a net importer of Bitcoin in 2026 for the first time since 2022, according to a study by Chainalysis. The analysis, which covered the year ending June 2026, pointed to a growing divide between institutional inflows and retail investor activity as the main force behind this shift. The report did not specify which institutions were responsible for these flows or the exact destinations of retail outflows. However, it highlighted that high-value transactions overwhelmingly contributed to net imports.
