Thailand’s SEC Seeks Dec. 5 Bitget Block Over Unlicensed Activity

Image: TokenPost

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has asked the government to block Bitget on Dec. 5 after filing a criminal complaint over alleged unlicensed exchange activity in the country. The SEC filed the complaint Nov. 5 against BG Limited, Bitget’s platform provider, and Kritsana Kritsananuwat, whom it accused of promoting the exchange. The complaint will proceed through an inquiry, prosecutor review and court proceedings; it is not a finding of guilt. The SEC notified Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to block Bitget’s website, other domains and app effective Dec. 5. The regulator did not specify a start time for the access restriction. Riza Dagoc reports on regulation, investing and the digital-asset business for TokenPost.
