The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) advanced its EnsembleTX project into a new phase Monday, enabling real-value tokenized transactions around the clock as Hong Kong FinTech Week 2026 opened. EnsembleTX is intended to support global fund deployment, management of tokenized-asset portfolios and treasury operations. In completed trial activity, Recognised Dealers conducted secondary-market trades involving tokenized Exchange Fund Bills. The HKMA plans to expand the trials to regulated stablecoins soon. The HKMA also plans to connect Hong Kong’s Faster Payment System with UnionPay International by the end of 2026. The connection is expected to progressively enable QR-code payments at more than 100 million merchants. Their reach includes more than 100 million merchants and spans Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and more than 40 overseas markets.
