Trump Approval Drops to 33% as Democrats Lead on Economic Trust

A new poll puts President Donald Trump’s approval at 33% two weeks before U.S. midterms, while Democrats lead Republicans on economic trust for the first time in more than a decade. The results add pressure on Republicans as voters prepare to decide control of Congress. Sixty-six percent disapprove of Trump’s performance, and 52% strongly disapprove. His approval rating is eight percentage points below its level a year ago and lower than at any point in his first term. The poll also found concern about Trump’s decision to go to war with Iran and the resulting economic strain, particularly higher gasoline costs for households.
