Small- and Mid-Cap Crypto Assets Lead as Market-Cap Ratio Reaches 41%

Image: TokenPost

Small- and mid-cap crypto assets have outpaced Bitcoin (BTC) and large-cap tokens in market-cap growth since late August, a rare pattern that could reverse quickly. The ratio between monthly and annual average market capitalization for small- and mid-cap assets is 41%. The comparable ratio is 7% for Bitcoin and 3.5% for large-cap crypto assets. The pattern is unusual because Bitcoin typically leads market rallies, as it did after the 2023 bear market ended. Small- and mid-cap assets are more sensitive to market changes, leaving their current lead vulnerable to a quick reversal. Enna Lee reports on investing and digital-asset markets for TokenPost.
