A new arXiv preprint describes HybridAgents, a framework that lets AI agents think silently and speak only when needed AI agents talk to themselves a lot. A new research paper suggests they could do most of that talking silently, and save a lot of money in the process. The preprint, titled “Hybrid Reasoning Agents,” introduces a framework called HybridAgents. It reports compute cost reductions of roughly 63% to 73%, while also outperforming the agents it was benchmarked against. HybridAgents lets an agent toggle between two modes. In latent mode , the model reasons internally, without decoding its thoughts into text.
