Block Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer Amrita Ahuja said companies may add artificial intelligence agents to their organization charts as they reshape work and seek to justify AI spending. At a summit in Santa Barbara, California, Ahuja said employees would help develop and deploy the agents. She described them as needing ongoing context, information and goals that may change over time. Block has been restructuring its workforce as it expands the use of AI to automate workflows. Earlier this year, CEO Jack Dorsey laid off 40% of the company’s staff.
