GitHub is presenting programmable MX Keypad controls for Copilot as a way to make coding tasks easier to launch while giving developers tools to monitor and approve agent work. Copilot workflows are shifting from commands toward expressing intent, with the system handling repository research, code inspection, editing, testing and revisions. Copilot can gather information from a repository, examine code symbols and dependencies, edit files, run tests and revise changes. Its coding agent can start from an issue, work in an isolated environment powered by GitHub Actions, then return a pull request for review. Developers remain accountable for the result, with ways to inspect, redirect and approve agent work built into the process.
