In a research paper shared exclusively with Bitcoin.com News, Quantus CEO Christopher Smith argues that EVM-compatible chains can offer optional post-quantum transaction security without waiting for Ethereum’s wider roadmap. EVM chains may not need to wait until the end of the decade to begin protecting user accounts from quantum computers, according to research shared exclusively with Bitcoin.com News. Christopher Smith, co-founder and CEO of quantum-secure blockchain Quantus, has identified what he describes as the shortest practical route to post-quantum authentication: a flexible account keystore under EIP-8130 and native verification of quantum-resistant signatures through EIP-8355. The combination could allow wallets, exchanges and network operators to adopt new signature systems while keeping existing account addresses. EIP-8130, developed through Base, would let accounts register and rotate different authenticators without changing their addresses.
