Hyperliquid ’s HYPE token recorded a sharp price increase after the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved trading of perpetual futures on individual stocks, known as Equity Perpetuals, for the first time. According to a statement from the CFTC dated November 3, 2026, equity perpetual contracts have gained the status of security futures within the regulatory oversight of both the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). These contracts can now be traded on exchanges registered under both agencies. The aim is to channel significant trading volume, previously moving to offshore crypto platforms, back into the regulated U.S. market. The rollout of the new contract is enabled by the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000 (CFMA), which allows the introduction of such products without legislative amendments.
