An elderly New York woman has lost about $310,000 to a caller who pretended to work for her bank’s fraud department. The NYPD says it is looking for Luis Irahera, 34, in connection with the grand larceny on Staten Island, reports SILive. Police say the woman got a call around noon on Friday, August 14th, from someone who claimed to be with Santander Bank’s fraud department. The caller allegedly told her that her bank account had been compromised. She was then told to wire $310,000 to a Bank of America account.
