Canary Amends PEPE ETF Filing as SEC Has Yet to Declare It Effective

Canary Capital amended its proposed PEPE ETF filing for a fund that would hold the PEPE token (PEPE) directly; the SEC has not declared its registration statement effective. Canary submitted its initial S-1 registration statement April 8, 2026, and filed an amendment Oct. 2. The amended filing describes the trust structure and creation-basket size, and names BitGo as one of the proposed custodians. Shares are planned to list on Cboe BZX. The fund's objective is to provide exposure to PEPE's price after operating expenses. The proposal follows U.S. approvals of spot Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) ETFs, as issuers seek to add meme tokens to regulated investment products. Canary has also amended a separate proposed staked Injective ETF aimed at giving U.S. investors exposure to Injective (INJ).
