Block's Proposed Three-Year DOJ Agreement Carries an Expected $764 Million Net Payment

Image: TokenPost

Block's agreement in principle with the U.S. Department of Justice on a three-year deferred prosecution agreement carries an expected $764 million net payment and still needs court approval. The proposal would defer a Justice Department charge alleging Block failed to maintain an effective anti-money laundering program in violation of the Bank Secrecy Act. The proposed resolution has a gross monetary component of about $964 million and an expected net payment of about $764 million after credits for prior regulatory resolutions. Block had accrued $764 million for the DOJ matter as of Sept. 30, 2026. If Block meets obligations in the final agreement, prosecutors would seek dismissal with prejudice, meaning the charge would be permanently dismissed. DOJ could prosecute the deferred charge if it determines Block violated the agreement.
