Tesla showed a redesigned Roadster electric sports car prototype in Texas on Thursday and set 2028 as its production target, reviving a project first announced nearly nine years ago. The event began at 8:55 p.m. ET Oct. 15 (00:55 UTC Oct. 16). During the demonstration, the white prototype ascended a curved ramp, inverted, flipped and briefly hovered with fans and thrusters. A timer displayed about one second for a run from zero to 60 mph. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said, “This will be the actual car that’s on the roads.” The 2028 target is for production; no customer-delivery date was announced. The next-generation Roadster debuted after Tesla’s Semi presentation on Nov. 16, 2017.
