Riyadh airport sees 94% flight cancellations after Houthi missile attacks

Image: Crypto Briefing

The operations at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport have seen significant disruption following attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi movement. According to Bloomberg, citing data from aviation analytics firm Cirium, approximately 94% of flights scheduled to depart the airport were canceled from October 10 through October 27. This period coincides with a Houthi missile strike on October 10, which resulted in casualties and prompted Saudi authorities to suspend airport operations. Although limited operations resumed on October 25, ongoing security threats and airline suspensions have kept cancellations high, indicating sustained instability in the region. Observers are focused on the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) for any further announcements regarding airspace status.
