On October 19, 2026, Notion released its gen-6 agent harness , changing how enterprise teams deploy autonomous workers. While much of the industry has been fixated on millisecond-speed responses and rigid security perimeters, Notion is pushing the boundary of agent duration, moving from five-minute transactional limits to workflows that can run for 24 hours or more. This change is powered by what the company calls durable execution. By moving to a dedicated service with a queue-backed worker loop, agents can now survive system restarts and temporary hiccups. This allows them to handle complex, multi-step processes that previously would have timed out, effectively enabling agents to work through a full sleep cycle without human intervention. To manage the costs associated with these longer-running threads, Notion introduced an Auto model router.
