Germany's Sparkassen Begin Rolling Out Crypto Trading in Banking App

Image: TokenPost

Germany's Sparkassen savings banks began introducing cryptocurrency trading in their banking app Oct. 19, giving retail customers at participating institutions access to digital assets through a major German bank network. The rollout is limited at first to customers of banks that have enabled the feature. Individual Sparkassen decide when to offer it, so there is no nationwide launch date. The network expects 30 to 40 additional banks to join each month. Customers can initially trade Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), XRP, Solana (SOL) and POL. DekaBank, the savings banks' securities provider, operates the service and holds customers' crypto assets. Each order carries a fee of about $1.11. The offering is for customers making their own trading decisions. Sparkassen do not plan to provide investment advice or broadly promote the service.
