Crypto Prediction Markets Hit $2.7B Weekly Record

Image: Cointribune

Predictive contracts linked to cryptos generated a weekly record volume of 2.7 billion dollars on Kalshi and Polymarket. Very short-term bets on the bitcoin price concentrate most of this activity, now surpassing that of all categories except sports. The notional volume of crypto predictive markets reached 2.7 billion dollars in one week in mid-October. This amount adds up the value of all contracts traded on Kalshi and Polymarket, including when the same position changes ownership multiple times. Kalshi’s Bitcoin contracts alone have produced over 2 billion dollars. The most active product asks users to predict whether BTC will rise or fall during the next fifteen minutes. A new deadline thus appears several times per day. This increase does not mean that 2.7 billion dollars of fresh money was deposited.
