BlackRock ended the third quarter with a record $15.49 trillion in assets under management, a sum equal to 47.6% of U.S. second-quarter GDP at an annual rate. The firm collected $205.466 billion in net inflows during the three months ended Sept. 30, slightly more than the $204.642 billion recorded in the year-earlier quarter. BlackRock’s quarter-end AUM was 15% above the $13.464 trillion reported a year earlier. The GDP figure was $32.56 trillion. The comparison gives a sense of scale, but it pairs client assets measured on one date with economic output measured over time. It does not mean BlackRock owns a comparable share of the U.S. economy. BlackRock’s third-quarter revenue rose 19% from a year earlier to $7.75 billion. GAAP diluted earnings were $10.57 per share, up from $8.43.
