The daily gain did not put the contract above any of those three shorter-period measures. The figures show where its price stood relative to each average in the Oct. 19 snapshot; they do not establish a continuing decline. A stochastic reading was near 20, the threshold commonly used to identify oversold conditions. The relative strength index was around 40, above its own oversold threshold of 30.
