Vitalik Buterin Demand Powerful Trust at Devcon 8 2026

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin opened Devcon 8 in Mumbai with a clear thesis: the defining problem of modern technology is trust. Speaking at Jio World Centre, Vitalik Buterin said users need to trust operating systems hardware, health systems, information sources, communication tools, and artificial intelligence. The answer, he said, must be figured out together. Devcon 8, organized by the Ethereum Foundation, runs November 3-6 at Jio World Centre, Mumbai. It is the first time the flagship conference has been held in India and South Asia, following editions in Berlin, Prague, Osaka, Bogota, Bangkok, and Buenos Aires. Vitalik Buterin’s remarks set the tone for four days focused on infrastructure, security, privacy, and public goods.
