Ethereum Gas Limit Increase Targets 200 Million With Glamsterdam Upgrade

The Ethereum gas limit will be increased significantly due to the Glamsterdam update approaching activation on the mainnet. The development team at Ethereum is planning to increase the gas limit from 60 million to 200 million on the Hoodi testnet on October 26, 2026. This increase in the gas limit will lead to an increase in the capacity of the blocks by 3.3 times. Toni Wahrstätter, an Ethereum researcher, explains that Hoodi will be the last testnet to receive Glamsterdam before any possible launch on the mainnet. Developers have yet to confirm any date for launching the mainnet.
