Five publicly traded miners produced 47% less Bitcoin (BTC) through Oct. 19, 2026, than in the same 2025 period, while another five-company group posted a gain. The lower-output cohort — IREN, Core Scientific, Bitfarms, TeraWulf and Cipher — mined 7,075 BTC from Jan. 1 through Oct. 19, 2026. Its total was 13,263 BTC over the corresponding dates in 2025, a difference of 6,188 BTC. Several companies in this group have shifted sites or capacity toward artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC). A separate Bitcoin-focused group — MARA, CleanSpark, Riot, HIVE and American Bitcoin — moved in the other direction. It produced 23,306 BTC in the 2026 period, compared with 20,085 BTC through Oct. 19, 2025, an increase of 16%. Across both groups, production totaled 30,381 BTC through Oct.
