Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) perpetual futures funding rates were in a neutral range on Oct. 18, though some platforms had bearish readings, showing that market positioning varied across venues. BTC traded at $81,758.98, up 0.22% over 24 hours. ETH was at $2,416.25, down 0.69%. BTC's position-weighted and trading-volume-weighted funding rates were 0.0055% and 0.0053%, respectively. ETH's two weighted rates were both 0.0057%. The 0.01% level is the benchmark rate; readings above it indicate bullish sentiment, while rates below 0.005% indicate bearish sentiment. Funding payments pass between long and short traders in perpetual futures to help keep contract prices near spot prices, and the rates were standardized to an eight-hour period.
