Solana's Alpenglow Activation Window Shifts Earlier on Oct. 21

Solana's Alpenglow upgrade remains planned for Oct. 21, but faster slot production has moved the estimated start of its activation process 90 minutes earlier, changing when the network is expected to enter the upgrade epoch. Epoch 1064 is now expected to begin at about 9:20 a.m. ET (13:20 UTC), compared with the previous estimate of about 10:50 a.m. ET (14:50 UTC). The estimate may shift again as the network continues producing slots. The upgrade gate is expected to open when the epoch begins. Solana would then keep using its current consensus system for about 5,000 slots, or roughly 18 minutes, before Alpenglow takes over.
