NEAR Advances Automated Proof Generation to Lower Verification Costs

Image: TokenPost
NEAR Protocol is working to automate mathematical proof generation to lower the cost of checking whether blockchain software follows defined rules, with use on its protocol and core smart contracts still planned. A mathematical proof can establish that software meets a specific requirement within a defined model. For example, developers could seek to prove that a transfer preserves balances. Formal verification depends on the requirement chosen: a proof of one behavior does not cover every part of a program. Generating the proof is one stage of the work. Developers must also state the requirement precisely and ensure the mathematical model reflects the software they deploy. NEAR AI's progress concerns proof generation, rather than completion of those other steps.
