Avalanche posted its fastest average block time on October 23, recording an interval of 911 milliseconds, according to blockchain analytics provider Chainspect. This new record underscores Avalanche’s growing capability to process transactions swiftly as its native token, AVAX, approaches a key technical price checkpoint. Chainspect reported that Avalanche, a Layer 1 blockchain platform focused on scalable decentralized applications and digital assets, achieved an average block production time of 911 milliseconds on Friday. This is the shortest interval between blocks in the network’s history, taking overall block time below one second for the first time. Block time refers to the interval between the creation of successive blocks on a blockchain. Shorter block times can improve perceived speed, but they do not solely determine transaction finality or overall experience for network users.
